Dr. Finkelstein is presenting to the family medicine practice at PCOM ( Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine) . The physicians are learning how to optimize the logistics of telehealth in their clinical practice. Also they are facilitating learning and innovation with the staff and the medical students. The goal is to teach telemedicine skills to the students and improve efficiency of scheduling and providing telehealth visits with patients.
Dr. Finkelstein is working with a skilled nursing facility (Bala) to use the workstation on wheels ( WOW) and the devices installed to admit a patient. The cart is loaded with a teleotoscope, telestethoscope, HD cameras to help with a full exam of the patient. In this photo, you can see the Biomed student help instruct the nurse how to use the peripheral devices. He adds to the success of the program by making the technology less complicated and easier for the nurse to engage with the WOW. She will be able to help the admitting physician who is on the screen sitting in his office. The concept of remote supervision of nurses and students is happening now with the WOW!
